CG Retreat’s Concert Series features some of the UK’s most exciting and inspirational musicians. Over three days audiences will be indulged with a variety and breadth of repertoire ranging from Bach & Rodrigo to Takemitsu & Piazzolla. The sublime acoustics and intimacy of the Cathedral of the Isles lends itself to the classical guitar and ensures that every note will be a magical one.
Friday 10th July
Matthew McAllister will open the concert series with a solo performance during the first half of the opening night concert. Matthew will perform music by Bach, Scarlatti & Towner.

Aisling Agnew, Feargus Hetherington & Douglas Whates will join with Matthew to perform the rest of the opening night concert as Frevo Quartet. Repertoire will include Piazzolla’s epic Histoire du Tango and music from their latest recording Standing Stones

Saturday 11th July

Allan Neave will perform a solo recital including works by Bach, Aguado, Rodrigo, & Takemitsu.

It’s the turn of the students to take to the stage under the watchful gaze of Peter Stewart. Perfomances from the CG Retreat Guitar Orchestra, budding soloists and newly formed ensembles are all expected!

The Isle of Cumbrae is easily reached from Largs by making a short 10-minute ferry trip.
There are excellent transport connections to Largs from Glasgow and its environs. Largs is around an hour by road, rail, car or bus from Glasgow city centre, Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick airports.
